Leave the door where it is and stop pressing the opener button. A broken spring drops the whole weight of the door onto the opener and the cables.

Stop using the door and unplug the opener. A door off its track is carrying weight in a direction it was never designed to, and it can come down.

Check two things before anything else: the safety sensors near the floor, and the red disconnect cord. Between them they account for a lot of the calls we take.
$200 to $400Look at the two small sensors near the floor on each side of the opening. If either light is dark or blinking, that is almost always the whole problem, and the fix is often free.

$200 to $330Stop using the door. With one cable gone the other side is carrying double its load, and the door is one cycle away from coming off its track.
$200 to $350The sound tells you the part. A deep rumble is the rollers, and that is the common one and the cheap one to fix. Squealing is hinges and springs that have run dry. A bang is different: something let go, so stop running the door.
$250 to $400Try the wall button first. If the wall button works and the remote does not, the problem is the remote or its programming, and there is a fair chance you can fix it at home.
