Why doors here earn their tune-up

The failures we get called out for almost never start on the day they happen. A spring drifts out of balance and quietly overworks the opener for a year first. A cable frays strand by strand where nobody is looking. The tune-up is how you meet those on a scheduled visit instead of on the morning the car is stuck inside.

What does a garage door tune-up include?

It is the same checklist on every visit, and anything it turns up gets named and priced before we touch it.

How often should a garage door be serviced?

Once a year for most doors. Twice makes sense for doors near the bay in Millbrae or along the Foster City lagoons, where salt air gets into cables and bearings, and for any door doing heavy daily duty.

When is a tune-up actually worth booking?

Once a door is past its first few years. That is when cables start fraying and the balance starts drifting, and both are cheap to catch and expensive to meet as a failure. On a two-year-old door, lubricating it yourself twice a year covers most of what a tune-up would do.

What does a tune-up cost?

You get the number on the phone when you book, and you approve it before anyone touches the door. If the visit turns up a part that needs replacing, that price comes to you separately, from the same list as any other job, and you decide with it in front of you.
